Using
traditional hand building methods in terracotta clay, each sculpture is in essence a
hollow vessel. Smaller forms start life as simple hollow eggs
smoothed into their final shape, larger pieces are built up
gradually using coils of clay, the final form being a fusion of
the process of its creation and the initial stimulus (whether
human or animal)
The
surface is built up with layers of coloured china clay, the work
being single fired and finished
with a beeswax polish
